Abstract Painting
My artistic work moves within the tension field of abstraction. Here, I work with the idea of contrasting colors, textures, and surfaces, experimenting with them and trying to recognize how they react and harmonize with each other. I work with these qualities and allow the work to develop within itself. Feelings, thoughts, and emotions flow into my work. Before each canvas, I dare to try to incorporate new ideas. To transcend the rules of perspective to explore new fields of abstraction.
Born on May 29, 1975, and raised in a small town in the southern German Rhine Valley, over time I discovered the urban energy and diversity of big cities. I incorporate these impressions into my art, among other things. Especially the architecture, facades, and walls with their graffiti, which inspire me. The traces of time that can be seen in them. These impressions have shaped me and are reflected in all their diversity in my work.
After training as a graphic designer, I have been working as a freelance illustrator for book publishers and daily newspapers in Europe for 20 years. My passion for art has existed since my youth, and I also discovered my devotion to abstract painting in recent years. In my abstract works, I depict a journey that not only reflects my own artistic development but also invites the viewer to discover and experience their own path through my works. This allows each viewer to decide for themselves how much they want to absorb the colors, shapes, and content.
The paintings have been presented internationally in group exhibitions and at art fairs

Torsten Trantow - Thotra
Meine künstlerische Arbeit bewegt sich im Spannungsfeld der Abstraktion. Farben, Texturen und Oberflächen werden zu eigenständigen Akteuren, die einander begegnen, kontrastieren und in einen offenen Dialog treten. Ich experimentiere mit ihren Reaktionen und Harmonien und lasse das Werk aus sich selbst heraus wachsen. Gefühle, Gedanken und Emotionen sind dabei stets Teil des Prozesses – jede Leinwand wird zum Ort des Suchens, des Wagnisses und der Transformation. Mit jedem neuen Werk überschreite ich bewusst die Regeln der Perspektive, um neue Räume der Abstraktion zu erschließen.
Geboren am 29. Mai 1975 in Deutschland, lebe und arbeite ich in meinem Atelier im Rheintal bei Freiburg i.B.
Nach meiner Ausbildung zum Grafikdesigner arbeite ich seit über 20 Jahren als freiberuflicher Illustrator für Buchverlage und Tageszeitungen im deutschsprachigen Raum. Die Kunst begleitet mich seit meiner Jugend und in den letzten Jahren habe ich meine besondere Leidenschaft für die abstrakte Malerei vertieft. Meine Werke erzählen von einer persönlichen Reise – einer Entwicklung, die zugleich den Betrachter einlädt, seinen eigenen Weg durch Farbe, Form und Struktur zu finden. Die Begegnung mit dem Werk bleibt offen: Jeder entscheidet selbst, wie tief er sich berühren lässt.
Bisher wurden Werke von mir international in Gruppenausstellungen sowie auf Kunstmessen präsentiert.
